An art gallery and wine merchant share the premises of this chaotically welcoming and friendly inn, the earliest parts of which date back to the early 1300's. The keeper of the 'Foret' - the Royal hunting ground - used to live here, and nowadays it is quite common for distinguished shooting parties to drop in for lunch. The bedrooms have been refurbished with attractive fabrics and furnishings. We have some four poster beds and antique bathrooms, and there are also peat fires in some rooms. The food served in the restaurant is well above average. A small but superb a la carte menu of predominantly English dishes includes choices such as seasonal roast game with traditional accompaniments. | Inn at Whitewell
