This hotel is housed in a magnificent Tudor castle, surrounded by lush parkland. The castle opens to a reception area characterised by traditional arched entranceways and wood panelling and extends to public areas decorated with tapestries and heraldic shields. Guests can enjoy games of croquet and archery, try their hand at clay-pigeon shooting and falconry (on request) and relax in front of the roaring fire in the lounge with its intricate oriel windows. The castle also boasts a 500-year-old vineyard which produces its own wine, and further amenities include complimentary onsite parking, and a concierge service.
The Thornbury Castle offers two dining rooms: the Tower Room, hung with ancestral portraits, is a unique hexagonal space with arrow-slit windows and a fireplace, and the Oriel Dining Room is a more intimate wood-panelled area also boasting an open fire. Both rooms offer modern European dishes along with British classics such as Sunday Roasts and Treacle Tart.
