High up over Rozel Bay, Chateau La Chaire is set on the side of a wooded valley and surrounded by five acres of terraced gardens; the higher you climb, the more striking the sea views. Built as a gentleman's residence in 1843, the Chateau retains much of the atmosphere of a private country house, including some exquisite decorative plaster work in the drawing room. The oak-panelled dining room, with a conservatory extension, is a fine setting for some skilful and consistent cooking which features imaginative menus using the best of local produce and introduces many comtemporary trends. | Chateau La Chaire
