The historic West Country town of Tavistock was the birthplace of one of England's most intrepid explorers, Sir Francis Drake, while back in Victorian times it was renowned as the world's major copper-producing area. Now it is a bustling market town and home to Browns Hotel, a converted 17th century coaching inn, situated right in the town centre and close to Dartmoor National Park.
Inside you well find an interesting blend of trendy and traditional. The brand new gym is pure 21st century and highly acclaimed. The hotel has its own will that is believed to date back as far as Roman times. Positioned under a glass panel in the conservatory, still and sparkling water is drawn from it, bottled on the premises and is provided free to guests in their rooms.
The brasserie menu includes regional produce, organic and GM-free foods as available and is a highly regarded local destination for the ubiquitous English Sunday roast. | Browns Hotel
